When Energy Isn’t Aligned
For me, when things are off, it feels like I’m constantly running on a treadmill. I’m busy but not productive. I’m reactive instead of proactive.
That usually comes down to one thing — not being intentional about where my time and energy go.
I love what I do. I love saying yes, supporting people, and helping them grow. But every yes is also a no to something else.
So lately I’ve been asking myself a simple question before I commit to anything new, even if it’s weeks away:
Does this align with where I want to go?
If it doesn’t, I’m learning to say no — even when it feels uncomfortable.
Putting Yourself First
The second part of energy management is looking after yourself. Eating well, moving your body, resting, and making time for the things that refill your tank.
It sounds obvious, but it’s so easy to put yourself last on the list. I’ve started scheduling those things in like meetings that can’t be moved. When they’re locked in, they happen.
Because your mind and body need to be in sync with the life you want to create.
Choosing Excitement Over Obligation
Finally, I’ve been thinking a lot about energy and excitement.
If something excites you, even if it scares you, it’s probably worth doing.
Over the weekend, I spent hours in the garden, hands in the soil, planting vegetables. It felt grounding and energising. I looked up at the sky and thought, this is what fills me up.
That’s what I want more of — activities that create energy, not drain it.
The Takeaway
This world moves fast. There will always be demands, distractions, and decisions to make.
The real power comes from knowing who you want to be, where you’re going, and choosing actions that help you get there.
So this week, take a moment to ask yourself — are you managing your energy or is it managing you?
And as always, enjoy your coffee, and go do something amazing today. ☕
